Georgine Scott-Codiga, President & Susan Mister, Secretary of The Gilroy-Morgan Hill Patriots (an offshoot of the TEA Party Groups) will be our guest speakers this evening.
In 2006 SVIC (South Valley Islamic Center) applied for use permit to build a mosque, school and cemetery in the neighboring rural area of San Martin, CA. In reviewing the planning documents, the “Cordoba Center” project fell short of approval receiving several letters stating their application for a Use permit was “incomplete”.
SVIC claimed they ran out of money in 2008 and let their application lapse. They reapplied in Dc. 2010. Since that time, they have failed percolation tests, numerous zoning and ordinance violations and have even committed fraud. Even though all this has been brought to the Santa Clara County Planning Commission, they still managed to “approve” this project’s use permits.
We have got involved as a community organization and are attempting to fight this. The Muslims have shifted the focus from the code and ordinances to a “religious” argument calling us bigots and un-American.
