How Does Lying Erode the Quality of Your Relationship?

I always say in my heart, Lie and Cry. I never seen a lie end well yet. Saying that, partners choose to lie all the time. What is to be gained by a lie and then playing a cat and mouse game of trying to prove there is a lie and the one who lies acting stunned that you would even notice or call it out? What is to be gained by the shortsightedness of the person who needs to lie and truly believe that their partner is ok. Then you have the pile up. All the lies that exhaust your soul to discuss and now you are under so many lies that you either have to leave or accept the fact that the relationship you are choosing to be in is going to be as superficial as every accepted or fought over lie.
