CHARLES S. YANOFSKY, M.D. -BEYOND BIOLOGY: Metaphysical Brain Science

I did a book review on this very large book and it was a labor of love. In 1962 I was introduced to Biochemical Individuality by Dr.Roger Williams. It changed my life and sensitized me to the enormous differences between every human so that I pioneered individualized instruction. I also realized how our medical profession tends to see each of us as part of a cohort that begets a LABEL and our treatment follows that pattern - whether or not it fits. Dr.Yanofsky has brought up-to-date Williams’ concept and uses his vast knowledge of brain research and science to explain how the brain operates. He explains not just what IS, but what could be, its possibilities.As the title says, he takes us beyond our imposed limits and lets us see beyond our physical and biological limits. It is not an easy read, but worth the effort for any person, parent, teacher, or doctor.It is an excellent continuation and further clarification of many of the things Joni Aldrich and Hyla Cass discussed last week. Charles is a Fellow of the American Academy of Neurology. He has taught neurology as a clinical Associate Professor at three medical schools. He has authored many manuals about neurological conditions. He is Chief of staff and President of the medical Staff at his hospital. His wife, Janice, and he have three children and they live in Central Penna. He states he remains challenged by the practice of neurology, but feels the study of the brain applies more widely and has profound meaning. He shares that today.
