Janet Amankwah is a volunteer Lead coach with the Plainfield Chapter of the New Jersey Orators. “The New Jersey Orators is a non-profit organization that teaches public speaking skills to children 7 to 18 years old”.  She has been coaching since 1998, a year after she enrolled her son in the program.  She credits her husband for introducing her to this program after he saw the student’s presentation at a Martin Luther King Jr event.  Four years later, she enrolled her daughter in the program.  Both of her children continued until graduating high school.

Ms.  Amankwah has a Master’s degree in food Service Administration from New York University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition & Dietetics from Herbert H. Lehman College.  Ms. Amankwah has worked in Corporate and Public schools settings for over 40 years.  She has conducted workshops on public speaking and has also held positions as president, treasurer and secretary in professional organizations.    She is dedicated to teaching the life skills of public speaking to young people.   Information of this program can be found at oratorsinc.org.
