The Rev. Charlie Stallworth has represented Bridgeport at the state Capitol in Hartford for the last decade and has said if he wins another two-year term, it will be his last. Stallworth cited the state’s ongoing efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and mitigate its economic and social impacts, social justice reforms — particularly police accountability — and improving education as his top three legislative priorities.

He is a senior pastor at East End Baptist Church.

The Reverend Dr. C. L. Stallworth entered the preaching ministry at the early age of 16, as a junior in high school. He often preached in various churches as a young minister, learning, meeting, and further developing his love to see people reach their full potential.

Dr. Stallworth received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Bible and Pastoral Ministry from Selma University, Selma, Alabama. While a student at Selma University, he received The Leadership Ability Award, Best Senior Student Award, and Best Senior Student Pastor Award. Dr. Stallworth earned his Master of Divinity Degree from Vanderbilt University, School of Divinity, Nashville, Tennessee. While studying at Vanderbilt University.
