When we think of the salvation we enjoy as Christians, we marvel at its greatness! (See Hebrews 2:3.) It is the greatest thing that ever happened or that could ever happen to us. Such a salvation ought to produce consequences in our lives. Indeed it does! In 1:1-2:3 We learn that among those Consequences are both Rewards and Responsibilities.

Make ourselves mentally ready. So our first responsibility as Christians is to get our minds tuned to the right wavelength: to be s

Spiritually Alert, Awake, Ready; to be Steady, Levelheaded, Serious about our Salvation; to have our hope set fully upon our coming eternal salvation, to be most interested in, and most concerned about, going to heaven. Be holy. Listen to 1:14-17:

"To be holy is to be dedicated, sanctified, set apart, dedicated to Godís service. Holy" Today, to most people, has a negative connotation. We hardly ever use it except in a bad sense. We speak of people who are "holier-than-thou" and of someone as being a "Holy Joe." We would not think of complimenting someone by saying that he or she is

holy. Nevertheless, we are to be holy! And this passage tells us how and why. The how is found in verses 14 and 17: (1) To be holy, separate yourself from the uncleanness of the world, ìthe former lusts in the time of your ignorance. ( Jhn. 3:16-17, acts 2:37-38, 1COR. 15:2, EPH. 2:8, REV.21:24 )
