In the 15th century, Joan of Arc, (Jeanne d'Arc) then a 14 year old illiterate, peasant girl from northeast France, believed that God had chosen her to lead the country in the fight against the English in France during the 100 Years War. After seeing Archangel Michael, St. Margaret and St. Catherine of Alexandria, she convinced Charles VII to send her and several battalions to Orléans to fight the English backed troops. The victory at Orléans allowed Charles VII to gain his throne as the King of France. During a later battle with the English outside of Compiegne, Joan of Arc was captured, found guilty and burned in Marketplace in Rouen. Her ashes were thrown into the Seine. Twenty years later, she was found not guilty and declared a martyr. She was canonized as a Saint Joan of Arc in 1920 and has become a symbol of France. Join us at 'Unseen Realms' on Sunday, April 30 at 4 pm EST as we discuss Joan of Arc. During the second half of the show, Jen and Grace will be doing readings.
