If we fear anything other than God, we are deceived. Father God, His Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit; three Persons in One God is the only One in the whole universe worthy of reverential fear, honour and worship. OUR CHURCH should become a place of terror again; a place where God continually has to tell us, "Fear not"; a place where our relationship with God is not a simple belief or a doctrine or theology, but God's burning presence is in our lives. His very presence should shatter our egos into dust, burn our sin into ashes, and strip us naked to reveal the real person within. OUR WORLD is longing to see a people whose God is big, holy and frightening and gentle and tender... as ours; a God whose love frightens us into His strong and powerful arms where He longs to whisper those terrifying words, 'I love you.' Is there fear of God in the Church today? In the early days in the book of Acts, the Church multiplied daily in the fear of the Lord. Now, God is only described as a God of love, mercy and grace. Jesus Christ is our defender and friend and there is no need to fear God. But Jeremiah 5:22 reads; “Do you not fear and reverence Me? says the Lord. Do you not tremble before Me?” We are not to be scared of God. We have no reason to be scared of Him. We have His promise in Romans 8:38-39 that nothing can separate us from His love and in Hebrews 13:5 that He will never leave us or forsake us. FEARING GOD means having such a reverence for Him that it has a great impact on the way we live our lives. The fear of God is respecting Him, obeying Him, submitting to His discipline, and worshipping Him in awe. Malachi 3:16 “Then those who feared the Lord talked often one to another; and the Lord listened and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before Him of those who reverenced and worshipfully feared the Lord and who thought on His name.”
