Candidate for Mayor of Phoenix Claude Mattox, 56, began his first 4-year term on the Phoenix City Council on Jan. 3, 2000. He is currently serving his 3rd term as Phoenix District 5 Councilman. He was vice mayor in 2002. He was selected for the prestigious "2010 Best of the West Chairman's Award" for his community leadership by WESTMARC. Phoenix District 5, includes west and central Phoenix with landmarks such as Cricket Wireless Pavilion; the Maryvale Baseball Stadium, spring training home to the Milwaukee Brewers; the new Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago White Sox spring baseball complex at Camelback Ranch and Grand Canyon University. Claude Mattox has been active in the west Phoenix community for 30 years. He is vice president for National Western Vistas Real Estate. Mattox and his wife, Sherri, have lived in west Phoenix since 1979. He is an avid musician and is a member of the local group, Screamin' Javalenas, which plays at various charity functions.
