Hello everybody Welcome to International Sunday School Lesson in Acts 7:2-4,8-10,17, 33-34,44-47,53. I am Grover Weaver the minister and teacher. The lesson memorializes the first martyr of Christianity, Deacon Stephen.
Stephen Speaks to the Sanhedrin on Israel’s unbelief in Acts chapter 7. He is only mentioned in chapters 6, 7 & 8 It’s in chapter 6 that we learn the reason this holy man filled with Holy Spirit, wisdom and honesty is addressing this distinguished Jewish body, the Sanhedrin.
V2-4 have the accused opening statement, “Men brethren and fathers’’ I am not guilty of which I am charged. Stephen opens with the Abraham story which every learn and good Jew knows.
V8-10,17 cover the legacy of the covenant of circumcision which is to be performed on the 8th day a rite handed down by God through Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and the twelve patriarchs.
V33-34 & 35 Are the call by God and rejection of Moses by the Israelites. V33 Has us standing on a holy mountain remove your shoes, the Lord said...
V45-47 tell of the ‘’who’’ & the ‘’why’’ regarding the building of the temple.
V53 contains the final thought in the closing statement to the longest sermon preached in the bible and it is the most powerful in that the speech provoked a deadly reaction on the part of the listeners
