Are you dealing with grief after a loss? Join Grief Recovery Specialist, Audrey Pellicano R.N. on Grief Talk with Audrey.

Doula, the Greek word for one who serves. When we think of a midwife or a doula, typically we imagine a person who helps a mother during her pregnancy, labor and delivery. A death doula is someone who undergoes special training to assist the dying and their family members.

Caring for someone who is dying can be traumatic and confusing for family members, especially in a culture where caring for the dead is not ingrained in society. A death doula can guide family members through the process of death, telling them what to expect and acting as an advocate for them.

Join me with my special guest, Henry Fersko Weiss, an LCSW in New York and New Jersey who has been conducting End-of-Life Doula trainings at the Open Center for the last four years. He has worked in hospices, led many bereavement groups, and brings the experience of his own losses and a history of using guided visualization, meditation and journaling. He was featured in the NY TImes http://goo.gl/oRW37F.
