Mike "Fluff" Cowan, PGA Tour caddie is stepping up to the tee as a competitive golfer at this year's ADT Golf Skills Challenge, broadcast on NBC December 27 & 28. Being a playing partner alongside Peter Jacobsen is out of his comfort zone since he carried Jacobsen's bag on the tour for many years before he caddied for the young rookie phenom, Tiger Woods. He currently carries for Jim Furyk. On episode #158 of the GOLF SMARTER podcast, Fluff shares his entertaining history of how he became a caddie on the Tour, his competitive nature, life on the tour but off the course, and how his course management skills takes his player to the top of the leader board. This week's quote comes from David Hundley, who encourages his playing partners that come up short on short putts by reciting. "Were you aware of a recent PGA, LPGA, USGA, and R&A comprehensive putting survey, conducted over the last seven years, evaluating players of all handicaps, all ages (with established handicaps), grass species, and weather conditions, found that 85% of short putts don't go in?" * Send us your favorite golf quote to use at the end of the program. We'll give you credit, too. Click on "Hey Fred" at GolfSmarter.com and use "Quote" as your subject. * Let us know what you thought of this program and the content of GOLF SMARTER.
