God of Yesteryears and Tomorrows,

Today, we gather as Sisters. Sisters committed and engaged in the struggle to claim and reclaim our bodies, lives and communities.

We stand in this moment, many of us carrying heavy loads, burdens and numerous responsibilities, but we do not stand alone.

We come together across this nation with our hips, curves, bellies and thighs, holding our heads up high and representing a movement 100 years in the making.

Today we represent Harriet, Sojourner, Rosa, Coretta, Wilma, Barbara, Ruby, Maya and countless others, and now we speak their names...

We represent the many women who have walked before us Grannies, BigMamas and Aunties. And now we speak their names...

We represent and stand in the gap and walk for our sisters, cousins, friends, neighbors and colleagues who are not here today but we speak their names...

And God, we represent those who will follow behind us. Those that are born and those yet to be born, and we speak their names and call to their spirits...

God, let us catch afire with hope, healing and grace. “Stony the road we trod” but remind us that we never, ever journey alone because we are not only our sister’s keeper, we are our sister.

In your Infinite name we pray.

Amen
