Welcome to Episode 62! Recently I had the honor and privilege of speaking with John Mahshie. John is the Founder and Executive Director of www.veteranshealingfarm.org. After he left the Air Force, he felt a profound sense of isolation and wanted to do something about it. He and his wife Nicole created a 501(c)3 non-profit community called Veterans Healing Farm for fellow veterans desiring a sense of belonging and purpose along with their families and allies. Since its inception, Veterans Healing Farm has donated over 25,000 pounds of flowers and fresh produce. They’ve created a thriving community of local veterans, caregivers, and civilians who foster emotional, physical, and spiritual health. As we know, one vital component of health is resilience. In May of 2018, Veterans Healing Farm experienced tremendous adversity in the form of not just 1, but 2 unprecedented, catastrophic flash floods. In a powerful demonstration of resilience, they bounced back in honor of fallen Army soldier Corporal Matthew Bolar who gave his life in Iraq on May 3, 2007.
