Has Settling become the new trend

There's a lot of talk about settling these days. Staying with a person "just because" is like the dating "in case of emergency" button. No one wants to settle for less than they're worth, but many people won't settle for less than perfect. Maybe that's why so many people are single these days? Are there great catches out there being overlooked by a society obsessed by perfection? Are we settling ourselves into depression?
