Based in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, David 'Baby Byron' Shumba
is known for being half of the hip-hop duo A Kid Called
Gauwd along with Demetrius 'Ase' Dorsey.
The partnership formed in late 2016, and they immediately
began to work on their first project "All Thx to Drugz" which
was released January first the following year. The project
presented a unique mixture of contemporary, experimental, and
conscious hip hop lyrics partnered with pop-like vocal
segments.

In 2018, A Kid Called Gauwd released an EP titled "Drugz Demo" spawning the single "Maserti
Rick". This single, took a different direction than their previous project presenting their listeners
with a darker, street-level sound.
Since the release of their debut project, A Kid Called Gauwd recorded and released 4 additional
EPs "Save my Drugz for Later", "Drugz Sold Separately", "Don't Say No to Drugz", and "More
Drugz IV Sale". The projects were received well, and the group currently has over three million
streams across all music platforms. Their success also led to meetings with Warner Music Group
and eventually the group signed with AWAL who represents dozens of known artists such as
David Gray and deadmau5.
On April, 20th Baby Byron will be releasing his first solo album called “Drugz Before the
Flight” which will be his first time expressing everything he wants to say about his complicated
life to his listeners. The project is will be released under Byron’s own label Gauwd Co. and will
be available on all major streaming services.
