  1. Cain’s Sin Against the Holy Ghost

All other sins are not to be compared to sinning against the Holy Ghost, and proving a traitor to the brethren. (TPJS, p. 156)

In the beginning Cain learned the rules of morality, religion and righteousness. But he turned away from those principles “and listened not any more to the voice of the Lord, neither to Abel, his brother, who walked in holiness before the Lord.” (Moses 5:26) As he continued to sin, he eventually committed murder and then sinned against the Holy Ghost. [160] These were unforgivable and unpardonable sins, putting him beyond redemption and the opportunity of being saved.

It has been revealed that “They [those overcome by the devil] are they who are the sons of perdition, of whom I say it had been better for them never to have been born.” (D & C 76:32) It is almost unbelievable that men would willingly continue on the path to destruction, but it has been said they love darkness more than light.

It sounds impossible that someone could love Satan more than God, but this was the case.
