And Abel hearkened unto the voice of the Lord. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground. And Cain loved Satan more than God. (Gen. 5:5-6, Insp. Trans.)

The recorded story of Cain is a short one, but the story of Abel is even shorter. Cain was unique in the history of the world and certainly one of the most powerful and important personalities in the Old Testament. To understand how the Kingdom of God was first disrupted and divided in mortality, it is important to know the roles played by both Cain and Abel. Thus, personal portraits of their lives and characters will be presented in this chapter under the following subtitles:

  1. Their Early Years
  2. Cain’s Apostasy
  3. Abel’s Murder
  4. Cain’s Sin Against the Holy Ghost
  5. Cain’s Curse
  6. Cain’s Conspiracy
