Today’s Topic: The Power of the Written Word
Discussion: We are educated from the knowledge of others whose thoughts and ideas have been written down for our edification, so that we may learn from their successes and their failures. We live in societies where written words give us instructions on how we are expected to behave in public, moral ethics, rules and regulations concerning our jobs, professions and careers and laws to govern our behavior which can be upheld in court with disciplinary actions should we fail to obey the written word set by the officials of the land in which we live and reside. It isn’t necessary that we agree or even like what someone else has written, it doesn’t change their words. A person can re-track their words and even offer an apology for something what was written that was harmful or offensive, but those words can’t be destroyed, especially when they have been read by others.
