Today’s Topic: The Early Years of Jesus King of the Jews Series

Sub Topic: The Virgin Mary – Part 1

Discussion: God always has a plan, we may not be aware of it, but if we truly seek Him the truth will be revealed in due season.  It is by no coincidence that a young girl who wasn’t of royal birth or lineage, but was a devout Jew who selected by God to be the chosen vessel to give birth to the King of Kings.  Although Mary was familiar with the prophecy, she didn’t consider herself a likely candidate, there wasn’t any special preparation or training that she undertook, yet she was selected from amidst all the women in Galilee.  It was she that the angel of the Lord visited to informed her that she was “highly favoured and that God was with her, for she was blessed among women.”

Scripture Text: (Luke 1:26)  And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth, (1:27)  To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary. ( 1:28)  And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.
