Dr. Alice Von Hildebrand was born in Brussels, Belgium, immigrated to the United States, and received her doctoral degree in philosophy from Fordham University, where she studied under Dietrich Von Hildebrand. There she mastered his thought, collaborated with him, and they subsequently married. She taught for 37 years at Hunter College in New York until her retirement from teaching in 1984.  She is the author of numerous books, among them: The Art of Living; Morality and Situation Ethics; By Love Refined; By Grief Refined: Letters to a Widow; and The Soul of a Lion, the biography of her late husband. She is also author of The Privilege of Being a Woman and Man and Woman: A Divine Invention.

She recently published the booklet Dietrich von Hildebrand and Edith Stein: Husserl's Students.
