Wine Talk from the Finger Lakes

Join me for a conversation about the Painted Barrels, an exhibit that is coming to the Finger Lakes July 3 - October 11, 2009. The project features Finger Lakes wine barrels painted by Finger Lakes artists on display around the Finger Lakes. My special guests are Tom Higgins from Heart & Hands Wine Company who is also a sales representative for Francois Freres (French oak) barrels and Chris Stamp, owner and winemaker at Lakewood Vineyards, who ages some of his Chardonnay in New York oak. What are the differences between French and American oak? What are the special characteristics of New York oak?
