Filip was born 1.2 pounds premature and they had to bag him often during his first week. Six months later we were still in the hospital on oxygen. They did genetic testing and found he tested positive for a terminal lung disease. The pulmonologist told us the doctors were incorrect and the test didn't mean that much. Shortly after he caught the flu while in the hospital. The doctors could not understand how this boy could eat and gain weight with oxygen and the flu. The doctor looked at us and said he was the 1 percent able to do this. Then they wanted to start doing biopsy's on him and study him we said no and took filip and home. Today as of three months ago the same pulmonologist said he didn't need to see filip anymore. Once again he said filip is his greatest success story he as ever had. His breathing is perfect , I had him on so many steroids breathing treatments and meds today he is on nothing.Today I truly believe jiu jitsu is a big part of this, It has replaced his ot and pt. Filip is flourishing and proving the mats are his home and rebirth

After being in class 19 months ago and filip not engaging in the mats I tried privates,that didn't work either, so I turned Ron he told me who to talk to and from the point is when jiu jitsu changed from a sport to filips medicine. From workings with Ron and his crew we moved the gym into the house and filip has flourished. After four gyms and countless instructors we wound up here and are able to help others.

Not really sure what else to say other then the combination of god giving filip a pass and Ron giving us jiu jitsu it has been a great almost two years. Filip is proud even though kids stop and stare. He goes up to everyone in this world and jiu jitsu will give him what he needs to continue to do this. It's beyond words
