Section III:     “Al-Islam’s Education Paradigm”

Imam Mohammed (ra) has explicitly given the charge to Muslim educators in his association to produce “Al-Islam’s Education Paradigm”.   He said so in these words, “the responsibility (of Muslim Educators)  is to extract from the Qur'an, and from the life of Prophet Muhammad the proper idea, the proper ideology, the proper way to look at the external world of reality (i.e., philosophy). And the proper way to approach whatever you have to approach (i.e., methodology)”  In other words, produce and effectuate “Al-Islam’s Education Paradigm”

In Qur’anic Arabic, an “of construction” or “idafa” is a grammatical construction wherein the first term is possessed by the second term.  For example, Rasulullah translates to “the Messenger of Allah” in Arabic the original is written and read from right to left. So Allah (the second term when written in the Arabic) possesses the Messenger (the first term when written in the Arabic).

So, “Al-Islam’s Education Paradigm” means that the “Education Paradigm” will be possessed by (subject to) Al-Islam.  Thus stated as an “of construction“, it would be “The Education Paradigm of Al-Islam”.  This means that the methodology and techniques as well as the tools and principles in the field of education will be Islamic.  Islamic doesn’t mean drawn only from explicitly religious texts and sources authored by Muslims, but includes materials adapted from other sources which are aligned with the universal values of Al-Islam.
