I've heard it said for years this cliche. . .'if you pray and believe God what you ask for, it will come to pass". This is so distorted and biblically misrepresented. There are conditions that one must meet before coming to the throne of grace, in waiting for answered prayer.  Are you hearing and heeding to the voice (through bible scriptures) of the Lord while He's speaking and moving upon your heart? Or is it just when you want Him to hear you, and then respond to your 'beck and call'?   It's not that one believe and receive what they're asking of God; but its FIRST, about hearing and doing what God is speaking (through the bible passages) to us. If anyone turn away and/or reject the law of,God, even when you pray, and cry out to God in one's moment of immediate attention, the Word says: "your prayers are an abomination in His ears". [Prov. 28:9]. Lets go now into this "Morning Word" and amplify 'hearing and doers of His Word. . . [James 1:22-24].
