Parenting expert Kellie Ann Peterson is talking with Janice Chamberlin. she writes, "No little girl ever thinks she'll grow up to be a prison teacher. Janice  teachs men prisoners in a "one room school house" environment. Her students are ages 17-74, abilities ranging from K-12, with every special need imaginable, and an extreme shortage of materials and supplies. She is the "mama-bear" to 50 students each day, with no guard in the immediate area, as they learn to read, solve math problems, and pass their GED test.

It seems counter intuitive that the answers to education are right under our noses...in our prisons!  Ms. Chamberlin has collected nuggets of wisdom that show it IS possible to revolutionize education across America.  She is an untapped resource in the quest to improve education, and her proven methods can easily transfer to help other teachers, as well as parents.

In her book, "Locked Up With Success," Janice shares stories not only of the challenges she has faced working with a very diversified group of students, but also the challenges of limited resources and restrictions in a prison setting.  In spite of these challenges, she has successfully developed a system that can unlock potential in even the highest risk students.
