Khasmicove is the brainchild of Sean James, a Marine Corps veteran of the Iraq War. After returning from service, Sean was diagnosed with PTSD and Traumatic Brain Injury, which led him to turn to music as a form of therapy. A multi-instrumentalist, Sean plays guitar, bass, and keyboards, and produces his own music, crafting a unique sound that draws from a range of influences.
His debut single, "I Lost My Mind," features the haunting vocals of Ukrainian singer ODARKA, and showcases Khasmicove's dark and brooding sound, which draws from the witchouse ,chillwave, and dark trap genres. As a lifetime metalhead and avid hardcore punk fan, Sean's music also reflects his roots in these genres, with an intensity and rawness that is palpable in every track.
But Khasmicove is more than just a mashup of influences. Sean's music is deeply personal, born out of his own experiences coping with the aftermath of war. His music is a way to process and confront the trauma he has faced, and in doing so, he creates something that is both cathartic and powerful.
Fans of alternative and dark music will find plenty to love in Khasmicove's music, which draws inspiration from the likes of The Cure, The Smiths, Ned's Atomic Dustbin, Stone Roses, and Deftones. But it's the witchouse and dark trap elements that give Khasmicove's music its distinctive edge, with echoes of Sidewalks and Skeletons, TRVTH, Ritual Drops, and Axius Link.
Ultimately, Khasmicove's music is a testament to the healing power of art. It's raw, unfiltered, and deeply personal, but it's also a window into a world that is all too often hidden from view. Give it a listen, and you'll be drawn into a sonic universe that is both haunting and beautiful, a reflection of the light and dark that exists within us all.
