Find out how to be pro-active, not just re-active to a situation. Get involved with your city or county counsel when they create these new laws, learn the laws in your area to be better equipped to deal with any situation that may arise. Knowledge is power, if you know the laws the less likely you are to get in trouble & trust me it can be as simple as having 1 too many dogs. Find out what the rules are regarding immunizations, kennel requirements, etc... You will be much less likely to run into trouble that way.

90% of Animal Control Officers are in it for the animals, not just to harass you or abuse animals, about 75% of those genuinely care as much about people. Most times when you are in doubt you can call &/or invite them over & they will be more then eager to come out & let you know how to be a successful pet owner. The other 5% is who you have to worry about, the more you know, & are complying with the laws, the less likely you will have any trouble.
