Michael Mabee has worked as an urban EMT, a paramedic, and as a suburban cop and for the federal government. He has more than 20 years of military training, two wartime deployments to Iraq, and two humanitarian missions to Guatemala. He was decorated by both the Army and the Federal government for his medical, technical and organizational actions on 9/11 at the World Trade Center.

Michael also served with the U.S. Army in Operations Desert Shield/Desert Storm and most recently served for a year with the Army in Iraq. He now lives in an area he describes as the “border of suburban and rural.”

Michael wrote his book, Prepping for a Suburban or Rural Community, because he had spent his entire adult life in the service of his country and its people––and he feels that protecting the USA and its local communities is still a worthy cause.  Now an experienced prepper: Michael is sharing lessons learned in Iraq: people will die to protect their families and provide food and shelter for them.
