Dr. Jed Adamson believes that the first and most important person in the equation for health is the individual, rather than a third party professional, or service provider, or product supplier. To be sure, third party providers can be important in their proper order.
To put the individual in the lead position for reliable self-directed health and wellness what’s needed is an understanding of the principles involved. This is what Dr. Adamson focuses on – teaching the how, what and why of self-directed individual and family health.
In this program we’ll be discussing “Supermarket Medicine”, literally, what you eat can be very beneficial, even healing to the body.
The Greek physician Hippocrates (460-377 BC), the father of natural medicine taught, “Let food be your medicine and medicine be your food”. He founded the concept that the foremost principle in medicine must be to respect nature’s healing forces inhabiting all living organisms, is followed by holistic natural practitioners today.
In the ongoing revival of natural based medicine scientists keep discovering synergistic groups of ingredients in herbs and foods that provide medicinal benefits. Among these ingredients are: phenols, flavonoids, carotenoids, enzyme inhibitors, estrogens and vital organic trace elements. These are often referred to as phytochemicals (meaning natural "plant-based" chemicals).
You can find them all in a garden or supermarket near by. You simply need to know what to look for, and why.
For the past 12 years Dr. Adamson (ND, NMD, DSc) has operated the Adamson Naturopathic Clinic in Twin Falls, Idaho. Dr. Adamson is also the founder of the Intermountain College of Natural Health, registered with the state of Idaho.
