Tonight, the hostess of Your Preparation Station, Donna Miller of Millers Grain House, is delighted to have back as our guest: Lecturer of Sociology Andrew Ferguson for a finale in our series.
Our topic will be “Group behavior in a crisis.” Discussiing group behavior in a crisis- short and long term, and how it applies to planning and preparation. Mitigation, preparedness, response, recovery, mitigation cycle. Also, how fear paralyzes people, makes them anti-social/psychotic/moral relativists, or…hopefully…solidifies their persona and makes them overcome their fear.
Andrew Ferguson is a lecturer of sociology at Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina, teaching criminology, deviant behaviors, social problems and homeland security/disaster studies. He also teaches history courses, including world civilizations and terrorism. Outside of academia, Mr. Ferguson consults on issues of disaster management and mitigation, high risk counter-terrorism tactics, and post conflict reconstruction. His clients include civilians, businesses, federal, state, local and foreign governments. He also operates Tactical Diversions for scenario training events.
