Today on Bubbas Bookshelf I will have Mark A. Smith live For part 2 of our interview. We will be discussing his book “Preparedness-The Basics and Beyond” Mark A. Smith brings a strong background in preparedness know-how to this book, the consequence of decades of working in the fields of safety, security, firefighting, emergency medical care, and hazardous materials handling. He has been a Preparedness Consultant since 2001. Among his background experience is a 3-year stint as Safety/Security Director at the Blue Ridge Job Corps Center, Fire Chief/Firefighter at Lackawanna Volunteer Fire Department in Ely NV, and an EMT-I at Ely Volunteer Ambulance Services. He did a tour with the Marines, 1982-89, and served in the Indiana National Guard (including riot control training). He has been a presenter at two national safety and health conferences, discussing hazardous materials handling and awareness, and is the author of four articles on haz-mat handling. He put his life on the line for two years as a Certified Wildland Firefighter. Today, Mark is the owner of Southern Plains Consulting, an Oklahoma-based preparedness firm. He is active as a speaker, lecturer, and participant at multiple preparedness conferences, and has been the primary developer of three expos devoted to survival and preparations. Mark lives on a working farm, and participates in cattle handling and care, as well as crop preparation and harvesting.
