Jim describes sanitation as the biggest and worst black hole in the area of disaster readiness and individual survival.  Sanitation is absolutely like a parachute – if you get it wrong you will die.  

Our modern-day high-tech society is dependent on a functioning infrastructure, including the many aspects of sanitation.  It’s vital to understand the true reality of failed sanitation and properly prepare for a time when the support systems most people are totally dependent on are no longer functioning.

Sanitation, or more correctly the sickness, disease and pestilence caused when it fails, is something that most people in this country have no experience with.  Proper preparation is far more than what you see in the preparedness books, videos and lectures.  You must learn the full spectrum of sanitation issues and prepare to overcome them before they overcome you and your household.
