Show start at 8pm est. Call in # is 619-639-4735. Singer/songwriter Mary-eL had already explored many genres of music from Funk, to Rock, to Alternative and R&B. Exploring had her moving around quite a bit; as part of an acapella group, various bands in Indianapolis, and now as a featured solo artist. Things really started to turn around when she joined SixPlay, a local cover band. "They showed me how to embrace my role as a lead vocalist and helped me in my development as a solo artist. It solidified what I wanted when it came to my own music: The live element, the energy given off between musicians on a stage- can't find that feeling anywhere else.” Features forced her to hone her musicianship and the chance to really try out her song ideas. After realizing how much her style appealed to the public, she decided to record “One Way Love” followed by “Body Talk”, two songs that have exposed her penchant for singing and vocal production. “It was one of the first times I put a lot of myself into the creation of a song from start to finish and let myself "be seen" as far as my ideas go,” she said. Mary’s performance history over the last 3 years has prepared her for songwriting. “Knowing what sounds best when performed live or knowing the elements people tend to respond to are the things I’ve taken away the most from my time with those groups,” Mary explained. Elaborate song ideas combined with the skills to record them from her audio engineering background, keeps her excited about new material. Most of her writing comes from a personal space: "I think a lot of the songs reflect personal growth and life’s lessons,” Mary said. She's intent on establishing herself as a self-sufficient, independent artist. “You have to see the present and the future of what you want,” Mary said. “I want to be a jill-of-all-trades. Put me in anything.”
