Join us as we continue our literary journey with American Novelist, editor, publisher, and essayist, Wallace Thurman. Thurman grew up reading everything from Plato, Shakespeare, Flaubert and many others. His early readings contributed to him writing a novel at age 10. He had a strong drive to be apart of the literary world. It led him to take a job as a columist, and then start his own magazine titled: "Outlet." Thurmon also made is mark as being apart of the Halem Renaissance putting together a group known as the "Niggerati." It was a group that was made up of African American artist and intellectuals of the Halem Renaissance. As a novelist his best know works is: The Blacker the Berry"; A Novel of Negro Life, which explores discrimination among black people based on skin color.
