Throughout Daniel's life, he sought God and was given great wisdom which led to continual promotion. Daniel honored God, his king and others. Because of this, God blessed him to the point that some officials were jealous.

The other princes knew that the only way to accuse Daniel was to find some way to attack his faith. They tricked King Darius into passing an unjust law that made it illegal to pray to anyone but the king. Daniel knew the law, but more importantly, he knew his God. He continued to pray openly to his source, even with the threat of death. As soon as King Darius heard the accusations, he knew he had messed up. Daniel faithfully served his God and the blessing that was on Daniel's life brought favor to Darius' entire kingdom.

King Darius desperately sought a way out, but he was trapped by his own foolish law. As Daniel was sent to the lions' den, the king made a bold confession of faith when he declared, "May your God, whom you worship continually, rescue you." (Daniel 6:16) The king retired and spent a sleepless night fasting. He knew Daniel was innocent and he set aside all logic and believed that Daniel's God would protect such an honorable man from the lions.

The next morning the king rushed to the den to see that his and Daniel's faith had been rewarded. The lions had not been hungry all night - the result of a God who honors those that put there trust in Him. King Darius made sure that the lions' patience was rewarded. He arrested all the princes that had accused Daniel and tossed them into the lions' den, giving the lions a mighty feast. Daniel Chapter 6
