Good morning and welcome to Get Healthy Now with Denise Thomson, Certified Health and Wellness Coach, Nurse, Fitness Trainer, Educator, Speaker and Best Selling Author.

As I am reflecting back on my childhood, my mental state, my being, I realize that I was quite happy, read books for fun, plaid with my siblings, did some other sport activities with my team, had a pretty structured day with school, homework, activities, and used my free time to do something that made me happy, such as reading, swimming, skiing, riding a bike...

Fast forward a few decades when I got into the work force and had to follow the directions I was given. There was not much room for interpretation, making changes, growing mentally, financially, it was kind a expected to follow the rules and not use any "dead" time for personal development as I was on company time.

TODAY, I am my own boss, lead by example, do as I say, be authentic, transparent, caring, love sharing and getting people healthy. As I mentioned last week, our mindset can get us ill or healthy. The choice is ours. What I decided is to study, practice and implement the new found info and grow by reading some great books:

The Monster Under The Bed, Uncovering the Lie That Drives Us   (Kim Fiske)

Church Boy To Millionaire (by Doug Wood)

Get Over Your Damn Self  (Romi Neustadt) more geared towards sales, though I learned much about my fears and challenges than expected.

Some others I have and want to read are a #1 New York Times Bestseller: Girl, wash yoru face (Rachel Hollis)

and Emotional Intelligence 2.0 by Travis Bradberry & Jean Greaves, both Int'l Bestselling Authors of The Emotional Intelligence Appraisal.

and the list goes on. Reading to better myself, to open my mind, to create positive thoughts, so much better than watching TV.
