Welcome to Get Healthy Now with Denise Thomson, Certified Health and Wellness Coach, Nurse, Fitness Trainer, Educator, Speaker and Best Selling Author.

It's hard to believe that we are almost in the middle of 2019 already with Memorial Day Weekend close to the end of the month of May. Can you believe that it snowed on Sunday, on Wednesday, and today it's raining for about 6 hours according to the weather forecast. Since most people get this weekend off, the roads will be congested and the number of accidents will increase. Therefore, I have decided to drive up the mountain today before everyone else gets on the road. My safety comes first, and also the safety of the people around me on the road. Since we had heavy winds, it blew all the pollens on the street. With the rain coming down today, it will mix with the pollens and make it sleek. I am so grateful that my uncle was a driver's instructor who taught me all these wonderful safety tips for driving. I still remember them 48 years later!

Make sure you are prepared for inclement weather, have chaines, water, food, blankets, etc. in your vehicle, in case you get stranded for a while. Make sure you have enough fuel in your vehicle so you don't contribute to being stranded. I checked with Caltrans Road Closures to make sure that all the roads up the mountain are open and do not require chaines. I will take them with my just in case.

As we said during pathfinders meetings, Always be Prepared and Safe!

Be careful, safe, prepared before going on the road this weekend. Make sure you are not in a rush, take your time, when the weather is bad take a break before going on.
