Good morning and welcome to Get Healthy Now with Denise Thomson, Certified Health and Wellness Coach, Nurse, Fitness Trainer, Educator, Speaker and Best Selling Author.

Why is Water so Important?

How about coffee, tea, alcohol, etc? Do these liquids count for hydration?

Drink a minimum of 64 oz of water every day, starting with the first 8 oz right when you get up. Benefits: kickstarts the cells, the brain, the organs, helps the skin (largest organ of the body), then 1 glass every 1 - 2 hours, depending on how long you are up each day, temp, A/C, heat, pan of water, humidifier, activity.

Benefits of water: flushes body, moves nutrients, detoxes body through urine, feces, perspiration, removes waist

Home tests to check if you are hydrated:

Urine color    https://health.clevelandclinic.org/what-the-color-of-your-urine-says-about-you-infographic/

Pinch the skin on top of your hand for a few seconds, release, count how many seconds it takes to get back to normal. Indication of hydration.

Water speeds up your metabolism, helps your liver convert body fat into energy. Proper hydration helps with saggy skin after big weightloss.

Are you drinking a min of 64 oz/day? Do you need guidance, support to get there to improve your health? (Not applicable in kidney failure, or certain medications, check with doctor)
