Good morning and welcome to Get Healthy Now with Denise Thomson, certified health and wellness coach, nurse, fitness trainer, educator, published author and speaker.
Do you remember last time you had to buy a car? What were you looking for? Did you make a comparison list between all your car choices? What was the deciding factor that you bought the car you did?
Before you even think about buying a car, is it a necessity or a want?
Brand: Toyota, Ford, GM....
Gasoline, Diesel, Electric or Hybrid
Diamond lane sticker can save much time on the road
FasTrack: saves time or waists money?
Size of vehicle
Shape of vehicle
Weight of vehicle
mpg city and mpg HWY
Comfort
Need for vehicle: flat land daily use, mountains 4x4 or AWD
Price appropriate for this vehicle, new, used, needs repair (how much), etc.
Do you need to take it to a body shop or mechanic or can you do it yourself?
I had a 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid that I used driving in the winter months to go up to the mountains...... sold it, need other vehicle.
Our choices: Rav4, Toyota Highlander,
Our experiences: Fords and Toyotas
Our Comparisons: 2006 Rav4 Hybrid, 2006 Highlander Hybrid, 2015 Prius Hybrid, 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid, and our friends Honda Pilot (not sure about the year). All 4x4 / AWD
What I have learned: The Pilot is the longest and the heaviest of the 5 vehicles.
The Ford Escape is the shortest, yet the heaviest of the other 4 vehicles and it rides like a truck instead of a comfi vehicle.
The Highlander, longer, heavier than the Rav4, better mpg city and ~same HWY. H = 7 people, R = 5
How did I find out the info I needed? I googled it! Amazing what we can find.
Stay happy,healthy and empowered!
