Good morning and welcome to Get Healthy Now with Denise Thomson, Certified Health and Wellness Coach, Nurse, Fitness Trainer, Educator, Speaker and Author.

This Sunday, March 11, 2018, at 2:00 AM we are switching to Daylight Savings Time again.

Benefits: 1 hour more of daylight

Deficit:  1 hour less sleep

Affect on you: sleep, waking up refreshed/tired, body aching, clear mind, receptive to getting a cold, feeling sick, attitude, mental state, spending money or more money on medications, catch 22?

How long does it take you to feel totally yourself again with your mind and body?

Is this mental, physical and at times financial stress worth gaining or loosing 1 hour of sleep?

Is it really stressful?

Do we, or does the town, city, state, country we live in, really profit financially from such a switch or is the difference not used in electricity used with EMT calls?

What is your opinion on switching the time twice a year? Is it beneficial to you or not? Are you for it or against it? Why? What can we do to be heard? Are we taking our civic duty seriously and speak up when things are done that do not serve us, as we can only serve others when we are happy, healthy and balanced.

As with everything, evaluate your situation. Start getting ready to getting up earlier 15 min every day until Sunday, so it won't come as such a big shock to your body. 1 - 3 weeks prior to change would be even better.

Recap: prepare mentally and physically for the time change to avoid big unexpected surprises.
