Good morning and welcome to Get Healthy Now with Denise Thomson, Certified Health Coach, Nurse, Fitness Trainer, Educator, Speaker and Author.

The last two weeks: talked about Sleep. Today I am telling you: "It's Not Your Fault".

Not your fault about what? That you are Struggling with Your Weight.

10,000 years ago: no obesity, heart disease, Type 2 diabetes. Getting enough food was a struggle.

Searched for roots, vegetables, berries, animals, fish (ate it on the spot, uncertainty when next meal was ready, or if there was going to be one)

In those days, being overweight meant you were very successful. BMI above 25. It was needed, lots of physical activity.

Our body is made up of over 40 billion adipose (fat) cells, providing a virtually unltd storehause to keep us alive. We store sm amt of carbs in our liver and muscles, but the ability to stockpile precious energy as fat is our most critical survival mechanism. (Then)

(Now) Do we need to haunt for food other than McD's, BK, KFC, Taco Bell..

Is our activity level NOW as THEN? Publ. Transportation, Car, Motorcycle, Bicycle....(Walking then)

Portion control

Eating: need, wants, when, what, how much?

Food Industry Sabotages Your Health:

1970 US spent 6 billion $ a year on fast food.

TODAY: $130 billion

Fast Food fosters Habits of Disease, hi colesterol, hi BP, hi glucose levels --> diabetes

90% of people are in less than optimal health

US spent 50% of $2 trillion health care budget on sick people, > 3% on people keeping their health...
