Good morning and welcome to Get Healthy Now with Denise Thomson. I am an Educator, Author, Speaker, Nurse and very passionate about healthy and balanced living.

How does stress affect your brain?

Headache: turns into a migraine, leads to a brain aneurism, stroke, other disease.

Signs of stress that affects the brain:

Headache

Migraine

Blurred Vision

Lack of focus

Feeling guilty

Hyperventilating

Being moody

Tips to reduce stress:

Taking regular breaks 5-10 min, breathing 4-7-8, stretching, moving around, drink a glass of water

Shifting thoughts to something positive

Using game strategy to solve a problem (Mary Poppins: In every job that must be done. There is an element of fun.)

Forgive yourself

Document your stress induced headaches with intensity, duration and frequency before going to the Doctor, helping him/her to diagnose you faster and more accurately.

What not to do:

Popping pills OTC. They only disguise the symptoms. You need to get to the root of the problem.

Ignore it

Don't dwell on it
