He is non-verbal and uses sign language to communicate! He’s always required 24/7 care then about 7 years ago she noticed that he was regressing! Finally got the diagnosis that he now has Alzheimer's!! Down syndrome people start progressive aging at about 30 and by the time they are 50, about 50% have Alzheimer's!! Something about the extra gene in that 23rd chromosome. All the down syndrome years were easy but, this Alzheimer's is hell. Sundowning, incontinence, eating problems, agitation, horrible for all the caregivers! She is on line with Alzheimer's caregivers from around the world and we support each other!! 24 hours a day!!I thank God every day for my caregiver site!!
