TEXT: Exodus 16:3-5

John Climacus said, "Gluttony is hypocrisy of the stomach; for when it is glutted, it complains of scarcity; and when it is loaded and bursting, it cries out that it is hungry."

According to ABC News, Yale studies on the stigmatization of obese individuals "have found that 67 percent of overweight men and women report being shamed or bullied in the doctor's office. And 50 percent of doctors found that fat patients were 'awkward, ugly, weak-willed and unlikely to comply with treatment' while 24 percent of nurses said they were repulsed by their obese patients."

This is an uncomfortable subject for many of us, but if you listen and take heed, this particular series can not only change your life spiritually, but it can save your life physically.

The test of obedience for the children of Israel regarding food went both ways. On Sunday thru Thursday, they were commanded to only gather enough to eat for that day. Those who disobeyed and gathered more on these five days found that the manna stank and became worm-infested after 24 hours. However, on Friday, God commanded the children of Israel to gather twice as much as usual so that they would not have to gather on Saturday, the Sabbath. Miraculously, the manna gathered on Friday remained fresh on Saturday.
