J. Hampton Keathley wrote, "The rewards of time alone with God are often not immediately evident, and in our impatience, we run to something more visibly practical. But there is a self-deception at work here. The negative effects of ignoring daily time alone with God are also not immediately visible. The aftermath of failing to draw near to God is like the decomposition of organic material, slow but sure. In time, we begin to see the signs of spiritual and moral decay."

My family and I have had morning devotions, or family altar as some people call it, every day ever since my wife, Meriqua, and I were married 30 years ago.
