TEXT: 1 Corinthians 11:1-12

Having established the foundational authority structure within God's economy, Paul now moves into the specifics of the situation in the Corinthian church. He says, "Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head. But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head." Paul's concern here is not with the behavior of males and females in the church. Both the Old Testament and the New Testament portray men and women in prominent roles when praying and prophesying. Rather, Paul is concerned with the manner in which men and women go about that behavior.
