How to Overcome Temptation, Part 36

1 John 2:15-17

These three powerful verses give us three important reasons not to be covetous or to be greedy for the things of this world. The first part of verse 15 is a command: "Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world." In the second part of this verse, we find the reason: "If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him." When this verse talks about not loving the world, it is referring to the world system or the world's way of operating which includes the things that the world posits as important.
