Ephesians 6:10-18: "Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints." Watchman Nee said, "To remove warfare from a spiritual life is to render it unspiritual. Life in the spirit is a suffering way, filled with watching and laboring, burdened by weariness and trial, punctuated by heartbreak and conflict. It is a life utterly outpoured for the kingdom of God and lived in complete disregard for one's personal happiness." Leonard Ravenhill said, "The surest thing in the world is not death and taxes, it's death and eternity. Yet, we're so unconcerned. We are not eternity conscious enough." In their book, The Ten Greatest Revivals Ever, Elmer Towns and Douglas Porter share the following: “The dramatic events surrounding the initial outpouring of the Holy Spirit [during a revival] are only part of the story that makes a revival great. The real impact of a revival is realized in the ministry of a revived church in an awakened community. This takes time. In fact, in our opinion, it takes a generation for the story of a revival to unfold fully.” ---- We are going to continue looking at what it means to "watch thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints." We have already talked about what it means to be 'alert' and to be 'circumspect.' Now, we will continue looking at the third part of this multi-faceted command, and that is to be attentive. We have already seen how that a Christian is to first pay attention to God’s Word. If we take heed to Scripture, we will be able to avoid and resolve many of the problems we face. ...
