TEXT: John 8:12-24

Oswald Chambers said, "Jesus Christ became Incarnate for one purpose, to make a way back to God that man might stand before Him as He was created to do, the friend and lover of God Himself."

It is a surprising condition of human nature that two people can look at the exact same thing and see something totally different. We see this throughout the Gospels and in our passage for today. Some people saw Jesus as Savior and miracle-worker; others saw Him as a law breaker and threat to society. Jesus, however, did not change according to the whims of His audience. He spoke the same truths to all people. The difference was in the hearts of the listener. The same words that brought comfort to the hearts of sinners brought anger and guilt to the hearts of the self-righteous.
